The weekend athlete, the home gardener, the over stressed executive, secretaries, waitresses, laborers; virtually anyone can feel a need for massage therapy sooner or later seriously consider making bodywork a regular part of your health care maintenance.

What is Massage Therapy?

Massage therapy is a form of natural health care, which improves a person’s health and well being though the hands on manipulation of the soft tissues, namely the muscles, connective tissue and joints. It is an alternative option to help alleviate the soft tissue discomfort associated with every day occupational stresses, muscular overuse and many chronic pain syndromes.

Through the more various advanced styles of massage, your awareness will increase of your own body. You will feel the muscles that have been neglected and those that have been overworked. Clients often journey through their body, as the massage is taking place and awareness can often become quite dramatic.

On the mental and emotional levels, relaxing your muscles leave you refreshed and feeling closer to yourself and others. When you feel this during a massage, you become aware of how tense you allow yourself to be on a day to day basis. The wonderfully simple thing about massage is that it makes you feel so good: your mind, your body, your whole being!!

There are several popular styles of therapeutic massage. Each one has its own unique character, focus, effectiveness and theoretical base. Some are more effective for relaxation, while others work with tension patterns, pain and long term release. Some primary focuses in massage are: nurturing and relaxation, deeper therapeutic work and medical massage. Should you have questions about what style of bodywork is best suited to you, please discuss this with Kristina during your treatment.
